Sam Boak shares Top Ways to Prepare for your New Roof Project

Starting a new roof project can be exciting for homeowners, but it can also be daunting. If this is the first time you’ve had a new roof installed on your home, you probably aren’t sure what to expect! Sam Boak has guided hundreds of customers through this process and is always willing to answer any questions his customers have. To provide some extra help, Sam is sharing some of the top ways homeowners can prepare for their new roof project.

  1. Clear the area of any furniture, décor, gnomes (yes – seriously!) and any other obstructions such as wind chimes or bird feeders that may be in the way. Not only does this save our crews time having to move things around, it also ensures that your property stays safe from any potential damage! Roofing materials and equipment will be carried up and down from your roof, and it’s best to avoid all obstacles ahead of time.
  1. Move your vehicles into your garage or into a friendly neighbor’s driveway. We have many important trucks in our fleet, and we often bring more than one to your project! By moving your vehicles to safe location before we get there, you’re helping us avoid having to work around your vehicles and give us plenty of space to work more efficiently.
  1. Put pets in a safe place where we won’t disturb them, and they won’t disturb us! The last thing we want to do is cause any anxiety for your furry or feathery (or scaley) loved ones. We might cause a decent amount of noise, so be sure to put your pets inside your home where they will be comfortable.
  1. Speaking of noise, make sure you tell your neighbors that we’re coming! Installing a new roof is a noisy process, no matter how careful we are. The courteous thing to do is to alert your neighbors that you’re having some roofing work done so they can also prepare (give them our number for their upcoming project requests, too!).
  1. Make sure any décor inside your home is in a sturdy, safe location – especially anything hanging on the walls. We do our best to be extremely careful when installing a new roof, but we know this work can cause a bit of commotion. Make sure any photos or wall hangings are either secure or take them down to avoid them falling and becoming damaged.
  1. Lastly, if you have a fence or gate around your property, please make sure it’s open for us! Many times, we’ve pulled up to a project and we’ve been faced with locked gates and fences. Breaking and entering is not our style, so please remember to let us in!

Communication is key when working with our crews. We’re here for you! If there’s something you want us to watch out for on your property such as a certain flowerbed, let us know. Our crews take extra precautions to leave your property even better than we found it.
