In our region, this time of year sometimes brings nasty storms and wind. With the temperatures changing rapidly, those who have lived in this area for a while know what’s coming! Some of the storms we see in from Akron, Canton, Cleveland and even Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania can be severe, and these storms can cause some serious damage to even the toughest commercial buildings. - Roofing debris on the property or on the roof.
This is probably the most common sign of roof damage we hear about after a big storm rolls through. Many people will actually see roofing membrane, shingles or other roofing material laying in their building’s parking lot or the surrounding area even when they can’t see which part of the commercial roof it came from. - Metal siding that is missing or has come loose.
If your metal siding wasn’t installed correctly or is old, a strong enough wind can peel it right off of the side of your commercial building. This is a much more obvious sign of damage from the storm. However, if the vinyl or metal siding has just come loose and hasn’t fallen yet, it might be harder to notice. Take a walk around your building and do your best to inspect the metal siding. Look for any gaps or uneven portions of the siding. If you see a piece that is coming loose that is in your reach, don’t pull on it! You don’t want to cause any further damage. - Leaks in your building.
This one seems obvious, but sometimes you won’t notice any damage on the outside of your building, but you will notice water dripping inside. There could be small cracks and holes caused by the storm that you can’t see from the ground. If you have a commercial roof leak, call us right away so we can address it as soon as possible! Water can cause further damage the longer it’s left open to weather.
