Hail Damage Repairs from the Roof, Siding and Gutter Repair Experts at Boak & Sons

If you’ve lived in the Northeast Ohio and Western Pennsylvania for at least a full year, you’ve experienced all the seasons. The weather in our region can go from bad to worse in a heartbeat, and just as quick as it came, there’s the sun again! Or vice versa. Unfortunately, we’re no stranger to some pretty extreme weather, which can often be damaging. One of the more devastating weather conditions we’ve seen is hail.

The roof, siding and gutter repair experts at Boak & Sons have seen some major hail damage on many homes and commercial roofs. Hail doesn’t have to be huge to be damaging to your home or property. Even small hail storms can cause turmoil for your roof and gutters. If a hail storm hits your home or commercial building, check for these signs of damage before it’s too late:

  1. Cracked or dented shingles or roofing material.

If the hail is strong enough, it can crack or dent your roof, whether it’s shingles, metal or flat roofing. Even if the hail doesn’t completely crack the surface, dented roofing materials can be vulnerable to further damage and may need repaired.

  1. Hail buildup in your gutters.

Hail is ice, and even though it’s warm outside, it can still gather and buildup in your gutters! If that happens during a storm, it could cause excess weight and stress on your gutters or in the valleys of your roof. Even after it melts, you’ll want to double check the gutters and your roof to make sure the buildup didn’t cause any further damage.

  1. Cracked or dented gutters.

If hail is strong enough to damage your roof, it’s surely strong enough to damage your gutters. A couple dents and dings might not completely ruin the functionality of you gutter system, but if the dents are big enough they can definitely cause problems and become unsightly on your home exterior. You’ll also want to check for holes in your gutters. While it’s rare that hail is strong enough to put a complete hole in gutters, it has happened – especially if your gutters are already older, damaged or otherwise vulnerable!

  1. Cracked or damaged siding.

Hail doesn’t always fall straight down, which can put your siding in harm’s way. Cracked and damaged siding from hail can cause your siding to be more vulnerable to further damage and leaking. Typically with hail, you will see multiple damage points. If there is enough damage, it’s probably safest to completely replace your siding. However if the hail only damages a small area, we can also repair just that section to save you some money!

These are just a few ways a strong hail storm can ruin your roof and gutters. Our roof and gutter repair experts are happy to help you if you notice this damage. However, if your gutter or roof is already damaged or older, you might want to consider getting them repaired or replaced before a bad storm hits and you’re stuck with even more serious damage!
