Boaks Trust: How United Way Meets Community Needs

When Sam and Donna Boak witnessed the aftermath of the realty tower explosion in downtown Youngstown, they felt a deep urge to help their community. “We didn’t know where to start or who to give money to,” Sam Boak recalls. “So we did our research and we came up with United Way. They know who needs help, why they need it, and where to put contributions best.”

The Boaks’ decision to trust United Way was driven by the organization’s comprehensive understanding of community needs. “There’s such a need in our valley and beyond, and somehow United Way encompasses all these needs,” says Donna Boak. “United Way has so much capacity for different avenues of people’s needs.”
