Commercial exterior contractor, Boak & Sons, completed sheet metal work on the Youngstown State University’s Stambaugh Stadium this August, just in time for football season. Boak & Sons has worked on many sports stadiums over the years, but Stambaugh Stadium was one of their favorites due to the “hometown” location and the impact the venue has on their community. Boak and Sons is headquartered a short 15-minute drive from the YSU campus.
“Youngstown State University is the nucleus and future of our community,” says Sam Boak, president of commercial exterior contractor Boak & Sons. “YSU offers our local students educational opportunities and experiences that rival big city universities. They are transforming downtown and growing our community into a place that people want to be.”
Sam Boak is personally and professionally invested in the university, annually sponsoring athletic sponsorships and student scholarships. “I want to help support students and athletes in their academic and professional careers,” says Boak. “Through YSU’s various scholarship programs, I’m able to give back continually to my community and the future of it.”
The Don Constantini Multimedia Center is the newest addition to the east side of the football stadium in the visitor’s section. This new space will be used for YSU’s Sports Broadcasting program, holding a classroom and football radio booths. For the exterior contracting project, Boak & Sons installed sheet metal flush panels, horizontal box ribbed panels, soffit paneling and a flat roof on the structure.
The commercial exterior contracting project wrapped up in August and is ready to go for the Penguin’s first home game of the football season. The Youngstown State University football team will play Howard University at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 7, 2019.
