Ice Dams and Icicles
It's that time of year again...
When the weather gets cold it's not uncommon to start seeing ice dams forming on homes and buildings. These ice dams are icicles that form and hang off your gutters and roof side.
Ice dams are caused from heat escape and poor ventilation in your home's attic area. The snow melts off the top of the roof and begins to freeze again as it comes down, allowing the water the build up under shingles and freeze. Consider having an insulation company check it out and give you an estimate to help control the heat loss.
The most important thing to remember about these ice dams/icicles is to leave them alone! Trying to get them down is unsafe and could result in injury to you or cause damage to your home.
